    The Bealtaine Festival takes place during the month of May. As part of the festival this year, Singing Circles around the country are involved in The Bird Song Project and are hosting a BIRD SONG themed night during the month of May. Our first BIRD SONG themed night will be on Monday 11th. May and continued on Monday 25th. May. We hope to select some of these songs and sing them at Tower Bay in Portrane on Sunday morning 31st. May as the sun rises...our Dawn Chorus.

    Portrane/Donabate Peninsula

    The Bleeding  Pig Cultural Festival will be launched on Thursday 10th. September by Mayor of Fingal, Cllr. David O'Connor. The launch will take place in The Chink Well Field up at Tower Bay in Portrane. Fingal Arts dept. Resort Residency Project has linked into the festival with Gareth Kennedy' "Origins and Uses of Round Towers". Gareth is constructing a Tower in the field using straw bales.

    Members of the Tower Singing Circle attended a Strawcraft Ireland Workshop and made Mummers' masks and will be wearing their creations at the launch of the festival. Fingal Mummers will perform their mumming play, followed by a selection of Harvest and Autumn songs.

    As part of The Bleeding Pig Cultural Festival, there will be a "Walk and Talk" in Portrane with a walk around St. Ita's Hospital and it's environs. Local historian, Peadar Bates has received special permission to do this "Walk and Talk".

    It starts on Portrane Green, assembling at 1.15 and starting at 1.30 pm.

    The walk will finish in The Brook in Portrane with a singing session led by The Tower Singing Circle

    Despite the horrible weather last year, members turned out with the Cois Farraige Céilí Band and with members of Donabate Céilí Club and raised nearly €400 for St. Vincent dePaul. We finished in The Brook where we continued with dancing, music and singing.

    More information on this year's arrangements late November/early December.
